After 2 long days, 240km and 200km, the cyclist had what they thought would be an easy day – only 90km! However, the length of the route may have been less than half the previous days but the road surface and head wind made up for that.
The cyclists started their ride at 08:00 and ended at approximately 14:00 but they all said it was a very tough day. The biggest problem cyclists faced today was punctures. Some cyclists had up to 3 punctures in this one ride alone. This wastes time and is obviously frustrating for the cyclist.
No injuries today and in fact all cyclists were back on their bikes. This short ride is very well timed as it gives the cyclists an opportunity to recuperate from their injuries due to over use right in the middle of the event.
At 15:00 the mayor of Avanos welcomed the Betfair Lifecycle team in their accommodation, the local gymnasium. Police escorts have been given to the cyclists for practically the whole event so far. Turkish hospitality has been impeccable.
Summary: Day 6 – Thu 13 Aug 2009 – Kirsehir to Avanos – 90km
