The Challenge Leaves Malta
On Saturday morning the LifeCycle team met at Malta International Airport to catch their outbound flight to Rome, which would be followed by a long coach ride to Venice, the start of this year’s challenge.
They were met at the airport by Malta’s Sports Minister Clyde Puli, and fellow LifeCyclist and Betfair CFO Andy Botha presented LifeCycle chairman Alan Curry with Betfair’s sponsorship cheque of €25,000.

After arriving at the Venice accommodation late Saturday night, Sunday was spent exploring the city and reassembling the bikes, which had been packed flat and transported by ferry and road over the past few days.
This morning the challenge starts at Piazzale Roma in Venice, with a police escort leading the team across the causeway to the Italian mainland. After that: 200km to Toscolano Maderno on the shores of Lake Garda, where the team will spend their first nightly stop in a church hall.
