Yesterday was the first cycling day of the 2010 Betfair LifeCycle Challenge, with the cyclists riding just over 200km from Venice to Toscolano Maderno on the shores of Lake Garda in northern Italy.
The first cyclists arrived in Toscolano Maderno at 18:00, about 11 hours after setting off from Venice.
The route was complex, with many small towns and villages, and a large number of signs had to be placed before and after junctions and roundabouts. The front backup vehicle is responsible for this, and had to set off very early to ensure that the cyclists didn’t catch up with them en route!
